After a whole summer of typical Maryland-style thinking (waffling to and fro) I finally adopted a mutt from the local Humane Shelter. [link]
I'm glad I did, whether it works out or not. She's a sweet collie/german shep mix I hope she will be a companion, one I need, for some years to come. Ya know, it feels good to rescue these animals.






On a different topic, I am slowly becoming another outdoors person who is getting angry with certain hunting practices, and the perpetuation of a brutish thought paradigm that is once again gaining momentum.

See 's journal here, [link] I agree with him here... I am going to mount a letter campaign of my own along these lines. I am not doing this as a knee jerk reaction because I love coyotes, or any furry junk like that, I will do this because I hate unethical hunting practices.

I find it Ironic that last November I was laughed off of a DA 'club' for warning that within 18 months the present administration (Prez BO's) would have the timber wolf re-removed from the endangered species list, a reversal of the early BO administraion ban on wolf kills. This club was blaming the original 2008 delisting on G. Bush... This November, I am watching news as some large numbers of wolf tags were issued with the intent of wiping out 110 (out of some 1500) of the wolves living in Idaho. NOW Whose administration has wolf blood on their hand?
